Some US customers are receiving an payment of a few cents (depending on their total payment) in their credit card statements, which is in addition to their usual payment. It might be called international foreign transaction fee, in other words. This is not a fee by Earth Girl Hosting but by the customer's bank and card issuer. It seems to appear when paying using our Stripe credit card payment method. We absolutely do not agree with the behavior of those banks and view this as fraudulent by them, but there's nothing that we can do, for the moment.

Please see our revised terms, which now include a sentence about International foreign transaction fees, under Payment: https://earthgirl.host/terms-of-service/

We have also updated our refund policy concerning this: https://earthgirl.host/cancellation-and-refunds/

If you are concerned about this fee, we have 3 possible solutions:

  1. You can pay with your PayPal balance to avoid that fee.
  2. We can permanently reduce your plan's pricing by the same fee amount, while this fee is active.
  3. You may try to reach out to your bank or card issuer and ask them if there's a way to stop that fee. Please do not initiate a chargeback or we will be forced to suspend and terminate your account.

We are always here to help. Feel free to contact us by logging in to your account and submitting a ticket about this, if you require more information.
